Seaforth Health and Community Information Day
On the 13th of June GWCommunities partnered with Mackay Regional Council and Footprints- Housing Older Women Support Service to hold a Community Health and Information Day in Seaforth. The morning was well supported by both community and service providers, with 21 stall holders and over 20 community members in attendance on the day. Stall holders and guest speakers were targeted around aging health, social wellbeing, and emergency services as indicated by community members who were consulted in planning the event. They included local service and social clubs like the Men’s Shed and Progress Association, Soroptimist and QCWA. We received positive feedback from stall holders, and community members who indicated that they were very pleased with the event.
The Seaforth Bowls Club showed their support of their event with the offer of the free use of their bus to collect residents from neighbouring communities of Ball Bay and Haliday Bay, while this wasn’t taken up by anyone, the gesture was truly appreciated.
The Seaforth Community Health and Information day was the fifth of similar events held by GWCommunities across the Mackay Isaac and Whitsunday regions. These events aim to improve individual capability through access to information and knowledge of the services available to them, and provide an opportunity for community to come together to build connections with each other. We look forward to holding our next Community Health and Information Day in Cannonvale later this year.
