Introducing Greater Whitsunday Communities’ 2024 Queensland State Election Advocacy Document

Greater Whitsunday Communities is proud to launch its advocacy document outlining critical social priorities for the 2024 Queensland State Election. Based on feedback from communities across the Greater Whitsunday region, the document highlights four key issues crucial for the region's future:

  1. Housing
"Every resident of the Greater Whitsunday Region deserves a safe, secure home."
Affordable, quality housing is essential for our community's stability and growth. We urgently call for targeted investments in housing infrastructure to meet current and future demand.

  2. Youth Development
"Investing in Tomorrow: Building bright futures for the youth of the Greater Whitsunday Region."
Our youth are the future of the region. Expanding youth programs and development opportunities will help them contribute meaningfully to our economy and society.

  3. Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
"Every Mind Matters: Transform Mental Health in the Greater Whitsunday Region."
We need greater funding for place-based mental health services to ensure everyone has access to the support they need, reducing suicide rates and improving overall well-being.

  4. Integrated Sustainability
"Harmonising our region and its valuable resources – a framework for future prosperity."
Sustainable development is vital for balancing economic growth with environmental stewardship, ensuring the long-term prosperity of our region.

This document represents the voice of the Greater Whitsunday region and calls on policymakers to take action on these urgent priorities.
