Proserpine, Cannonvale and Airlie Beach -Youth Round Table

In September, Greater Whitsunday Communities in collaboration with Amanda Camm, Member for Whitsunday held a Youth Round Table at the Proserpine Community Centre. Following the work we completed regarding the youth unmet needs in the Mackay and Isaac Regions, the event aimed to facilitate discussion and input from stakeholders working with young people across the Proserpine, Cannonvale and Airlie Beach communities.

The event brought together a diverse group of local champions to explore how we can collaborate and build on local wisdom on what impacts youth in the community and how we can work together to prevent this from happening in the future.

As a group, stakeholders looked at what was already happening in the community and identified what next steps could be taken to strengthen this. The agreed priorities were:

-          Raising awareness of youth services through revitalization of the Youth Network Group

-          Improve communication between services

-          Explore opportunities of Collaboration through building trust

-          Explore options for funding through data collection and research
